Groom’s Guide to Honeymoon Planning

A Groom's Guide to Planning the Perfect Honeymoon

I am so excited to share today’s post with you! My friend, Jessica, with J. Upton Travel is sharing her expertise and advice on getting off to the right start on planning your Honeymoon. Of course, this typically falls in the Groom’s hands, so if you’re a Bride and you think your man might need a little bit of help or friendly encouragement on where to get started, just pass this post along! 🙂

Groom’s Guide to Honeymoon Planning

As a travel advisor and honeymoon specialist, I regularly get calls from brides needing help planning their honeymoon. In tradition, they gave the task of planning the trip of a lifetime to their soon-to-be hubby and he hasn’t booked a single thing. Don’t let your groom be that guy!

I totally understand where he’s coming from…. when my hubby and I started to plan our honeymoon we of course immediately went online and started the endless digging trying to find the perfect destination. It has to check so many boxes: some place super special, reachable within the amount of time you have available to take off work, fits within your budget, encompasses all the things you both like to do together.

That’s a lot to live up to! Especially when he’s already dealing with the stresses of planning a wedding (or lets be real: dealing with you, dealing with the stresses of planning a wedding). There is a lot of pressure to make the right choices and that is where decision-blockage comes in. You know what I’m talking about!! I’m sure you’ve already experienced it while planning your big day. Well he’s probably going through this as well. So do yourself a favor and pass this along to him. It will save you both the frustration of decision-blockage and ensure you have the best honeymoon that you will remember for a lifetime!

Plan in Advance

Start the process off right by giving yourself plenty of time to make decisions and save up for this dream trip. This will allow you ample time together to really think through where you’d like to go, what activities you want to do, as well as save up the extra $ to make this trip extra special.

Work with a Travel Advisor

Of course I’m going to say this, but it really is true! Working with a travel advisor that specializes in honeymoons is honestly the key to a smooth trip. If you haven’t already decided on a destination, an advisor will help you to select the ultimate location/s. Then together they will work through the steps with you of booking your flights, hotel/s, transportation and activities. Each option they provide will be perfectly curated to match your preferences. No need to spend hours in the wormhole reading countless reviews, hoping you’re making the best selections.

Surprise your beautiful new wife with something special

No matter if your bride-to-be is a sucker for surprises or an extreme planner that likes to be in control of the details, she is sure to appreciate a well thought out and expertly designed honeymoon surprise. Whether it be a hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti while sipping champagne or a simple couples massage on the beaches of Bora Bora, your leading lady will give you brownie points for years to come.

So how can you get started?

Give me a call or shoot me a message and I will guide you through the process!

Oh and one last thing you’re probably asking- what does it cost to use a travel advisor? Either completely free or very minimal! Depending upon the complexity of the trip, there may be a small fee (between $50-$250) to cover the time put into creating a custom itinerary for you. Otherwise it costs you the same no matter if you book on your own or it you use a Travel Advisor. Hotels, cruises, and tour companies pay a commission, so that is how advisors make a profit.

Best wishes with your wedding and honeymoon planning!
