I’ve never been to the Chicago area – or Illinois for that matter, so I was super excited about getting to travel up north for Keegan and Julie’s wedding at Emerson Creek Pottery Barn & Tea Room! Julie and I worked at a summer camp together in college. It was so fun having some of the summer staff together in one spot again, and I love getting to celebrate with friends on their wedding day!
About the Bride and Groom
Keegan and Julie met due to the most random set of circumstances. Seriously, their story could be the plot of a movie or something – I love it! Julie was packed up for her move to Texas and on her drive down from Illinois her car broke down. She called a friend who then got in touch one of his friends to come help, and guess who that was? Yep, Keegan!
Julie ended up be stranded for the night, so Keegan offered her a place to stay and, being the gentleman he is, moved all his stuff to a different part of the house so Julie would be more comfortable staying alone with a guy she barely knew. Such a class act! The next morning Julie went to check on her car and it started right up – no issues at all! Crazy, huh?! She then continued on her way down to Texas for one last summer at camp. Her and Keegan kept in touch from there and the rest is history!
The Wedding Day Details
Keegan and Julie’s wedding took place at Emerson Creek Pottery Barn & Tea Room in Oswego, IL, a little town about 45 minutes from Chicago right in the middle of a bunch of cornfields! The wedding ceremony took place in the barn and the reception was held in the connecting tent. This venue was stunning! I wish I could have taken it back to Texas with me. Florals from Darelene with DLN Floral Creations decorated the ceremony and reception sites and were absolutely beautiful!
There was a 70% chance of rain during the timeframe all the portraits were scheduled to take place, and it didn’t rain a drop! It wasn’t until right before the reception started that storm clouds started to show up and instead of rain we got a rainbow!! It fell PERFECTLY over the tent and only lasted a few minutes, but luckily, I saw it and was able to grab a photo. 🙂 Keep scrolling to see it and my other favorite images from their wedding day!
PS: Be prepared to scroll for a while… there were just so many favorites I couldn’t help myself! But then again, I’ve never known anyone to get upset over too many photos… 😉
