Top 5 Georgetown Senior Portrait Locations
There are so many things to think about when it comes to planning your senior portrait session, and as a full service senior portrait photographer, my goal is to make all of it as easy as possible! After choosing your senior photographer (I’d love for it to be me!) and a portrait session date, the next big decision is WHERE you actually want your photos taken — so if you are an upcoming senior in the Central Texas area, this post is for you! As a senior portrait photographer in the Austin area for the past 10 years, I’m happy to photograph sessions in the greater Austin area, but this blog post will focus on highlighting my Top 5 Georgetown Senior Portrait Locations.
If you’ve ever been to Georgetown, then you know it is a very photogenic place! I grew up here, and I’ve loved watching this little town grow. High School Seniors from all over the Austin and Central Texas area choose to come here to have their portraits done, and once you start scrolling it will be easy to see why!
Throughout the years of photographing seniors, it’s been so much fun getting to explore my hometown even more and rediscover familiar places in a new light. I want each senior session to be as unique as the senior in front of my camera, and one of the best ways to do that is to select portrait locations that feel natural to you. Georgetown has such a great variety of locations in close proximity, which allows us to get the most variety out of your senior portrait session time.
If you are a current (or upcoming) senior and are unsure of where you want to have your photos taken, scroll through to see photos I’ve taken from each Georgetown senior portrait location and a little description of what types of images you can expect from each:
THE DOWNTOWN GEORGETOWN SQUARE
This one is a given! Georgetown is know for its charming downtown square and has actually been named “The Best Town Square in Texas.” (We’re pretty proud of that around here, and have coffee mugs to prove it!) My office is located on the Square and I absolutely adore it here! If you’re looking for something that’s a bit more “urban”, this is the closest you’ll get without having to go into Austin and deal with lots of traffic and lots of people! There are cute buildings, pretty trees and flowers that bloom in different places throughout the year. All of these photos were taken just a short walk from my studio, and you’ll quickly see that there really is so much variety in this one spot. (And a perk of starting your session here: You’ll be able to use my studio to change outfits — it has a clothing rack, steamer, full length mirror, hair and makeup touchup supplies, and even some snacks!)
LAKE GEORGETOWN
Next up: The second most requested location: Lake Georgetown. This pretty place is located about a 10 minute drive down the road from Downtown Georgetown and it’s easy to see why it is a favorite! The thing I love about this location, is that by taking photos at different parts of the park, you can get a variety of natural settings. From grassy fields, nature trails, lakeside views, evergreen trees — this location is a great option year-round. Keep in mind: To get the best light at these Lake Georgetown locations, we’ll need to schedule your session right at sunrise or close to sunset.
SAN GABRIEL PARK + THE SUNKEN GARDENS
Another spot that Georgetown is known for is San Gabriel Park. This huge park located about a five minute drive from the Square is a great second location as well – – especially in the fall! You’ll get some pretty leaves and nature background. Also close by is a little hidden gem called the Sunken Gardens. This is a little inlet garden area with a fountain and TONS of pretty flowers! If you’re a fan of pretty blooms and you want a spring session, this place is for you! Here are a few of my favorites from these two spots:
BERRY SPRINGS PARK & PRESERVE
If you want trails, trees, fields and ALL THE GREENERY, the Berry Springs Park is a perfect location for your Georgetown senior photos. I’ve photographed multiple full senior portrait sessions at this Georgetown location and there is enough variety to have a different look for each set of portraits. From nature trails to fields, an old pecan orchard and pockets of tall grass and wildflowers, this location has been an easy favorite of mine for YEARS! It’s so quiet and peaceful and a perfect option if you’re a little more “camera shy”.
THE ANGELA LALLY SENIOR STUDIO
I’ll admit, I am a little biased here, but my Senior Studio on the Georgetown Square is a great spot to get some modern studio portraits with an editorial vibe! If you’re booked for one of my Signature Sessions, this is where you’ll have your complimentary hair and and makeup appointment and get ready before your session. This space is complete with a clothing rack, steamer, full length mirror, multiple colors of seamless paper backdrops, fun chairs and props, etc. Another bonus is that we can photograph in here comfortably year-round and during any weather! With my studio being located right on the Georgetown Square, we can easily fit in a set of studio portraits, a downtown Georgetown location and make it out to one of the parks I mentioned above all during your 2 hour Signature Session!
