Top 5 Georgetown Senior Portrait Locations

First of all: Is it just me, or is anyone else having a really hard time believing that it is already AUGUST?! I’m over here like, “Um, where did summer go??” Haha But with August comes the start of a new school year, and that means kicking back off the senior portrait season! There are so many things to think about when it comes to planning your senior session, and my goal is to make all of it as easy as possible. After nailing down a photographer (I’d love for it to be me!) and a date, the next big decision is WHERE you actually want your photos taken, so if you are an upcoming senior in the Central Texas area, this post is for you! Today’s post is a list of my Top 5 Georgetown Senior Portrait Locations.

If you’ve ever been to Georgetown, then you know it is a very photogenic place!  I grew up here, and I’ve loved watching this little town grow! Seniors from all over the Central Texas area actually choose to come here to have their portraits done, and once you start scrolling it will be easy to see why!

Throughout the years of photographing seniors, it’s been so much fun getting to explore my hometown even more and rediscover familiar places in a new light. I want each senior session to be unique as each senior and to reflect each girl’s genuine beauty and personality. With photographing so many seniors in most of the same popular locations, I’ve had to get creative in how to make sure each session is different, and it’s been so fun! You’ll see that while I do most senior sessions in the same few locations around here, there are SO MANY ways to add variety and make each session different from the last!

If you’re about to start your senior year, and are unsure of where you want to have your photos taken, scroll through to see photos from each place and a little description of what types of images y0u can expect from each location:

THE GEORGETOWN SQUARE

This one is a given! Georgetown is know for it’s charming square and has actually been named “The Best Town Square in Texas.” (We’re pretty proud of that around here, and have coffee mugs to prove it!) My office is located on the Square and I absolutely adore it here! If you’re looking for something that’s a bit more “urban”, this is the closest you’ll get without having to go into Austin and deal with lots of traffic and lots of people! There are cute buildings, pretty trees and flowers that bloom in different places throughout the year. All of these photos were taken around or just off of the Square, and you’ll quickly see that there really is so much variety in this one spot. (And a perk of starting your session here: You’ll be able to come up to my office and have place to hang your outfits and change – with a full-length mirror!) So, here we go:

BLUE HOLE

Next up: The second most requested location: Blue Hole Park. This pretty place is located about a two minute drive down the road from the Square and it’s easy to see why it is a favorite! The thing I love about this location, is that by taking photos at different parts of the park, you can get VERY different looks! At one end are trees and grassy area, in the middles is a waterfall and a place to walk along the river, and at the other end is sidewalk lined by a well-maintained garden. This is a great second location because as the sun lowers, the light is no longer harshly reflecting off the water, but is juuust right coming through the trees and falling softly along the river area. Take a look!

SAN GABRIEL PARK + THE SUNKEN GARDENS

Another spot that Georgetown is known for is San Gabriel Park. This huge park located about a five minute drive from the Square is a great second location as well – – especially in the fall! You’ll get some pretty leaves and nature background. Also close by is a little hidden gem called the Sunken Gardens. This is a little inlet garden area with a fountain and TONS of pretty flowers! If you’re a fan of pretty blooms and you want a spring session, this place is for you! Here are a few of my favorites from these two spots:

BOOTY’S PARK + THE GEORGETOWN DAM

Yes, it’s actually called “Booty’s Park.” Why it is named that, I am not sure, but this place is a hidden gem as well! It’s located about 10 minutes from the Square and on the other side of the dam from Lake Georgetown. I’ve actually only taken a few senior portraits out here because not many people know where it is, but I’m hoping more people will want to venture out with me after seeing some of these pictures! It’s really different from other locations in Georgetown because the road dead-ends right up against the dam, so you there’s this HUGE pile of rocks, and when the sun sets, it looks so pretty! There’s also a spot to go down to the water nearby, trails and a field!

THE OVERLOOK AT LAKE GEORGETOWN

Last, but not least: The Overlook at Lake Georgetown! I love this place. If you want a grassy field and more of a “boho” look to your session, this is the perfect spot! There are trails that lead through trees and then also through and open field and down by the water. This is a great second location as well because riiiight before the sunsets is the PERFECT time to grab some shots by the water. And if the weather happens to be a bit cloudy on the day of your session, all the granite rock trails and rocks down by the water help to add some pretty light and colors into the photos! Also, down by the water on an overcast day is just magic.
