I’m just going to go ahead and assume that if you’re reading this post you’re like me and you like being ORGANIZED! I can’t handle clutter and mess and things all over the place — especially when I’m traveling and have a confined space I’m working with. Everything having a place and being easy to find and pack just makes my life (and trip!) so much easier. I travel a decent amount each year for wedding and sessions, and I’ve compiled a few of my favorite bags and inexpensive travel items that have made staying organized on the go a little easier. Just click on the images or links below to purchase on Amazon (because hello, PRIME!). Here we go:
Kelly Moore Leather Weekender
First up: My Kelly Moore Leather weekender bag! I LOVE this thing. It’s a timeless, sturdy and durable leather that will last for YEARS. It’s a little bit of an investment, but I’m all for buying something I’ll use over and over once vs. repeat less expensive options over the years that just wear out. I also love that all of the KM bags come with removable inserts for my camera gear! Now this bag can serve double-duty if I need it to, and it makes it all the more worth it in my opinion! If you purchase this bag, or any other Kelly Moore bag $100 or more before the end of this month, you can get $25 off with the code ANGELAKMB. I own probably 5 KM bags at this point and use them all!
3 Piece TSA Approved Carry On
I don’t know about you, but trying to cram all my toiletries into a quart-sized bag for my carry-on when I have to fly somewhere is one of the most frustrating things about packing! This just gets hard. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, face wash, hairspray, toothpaste, …all the things, and those little bags fill up QUICK. Luckily I found these on Amazon that hold 2-3 times as much as a Ziplock quart-sized bag, but are still TSA approved! ???? Plus, these come in a three-pack, so it’s perfect for you brides and grooms planning that honeymoon!
Travel Jewelry Organizer
Another thing I dislike about traveling: Jewelry getting all tangled or misplaced. This cute little organizer solves ALL those problems. Necklaces stay velcro-ed down neatly by themselves, earrings all have a home so you don’t come home from a trip with only half a pair… I still think about one of my favorite Kendra Scott earrings that got lost along the way before I had this. Haha (But really, it’s a goner and for some reason I can’t bring myself to throw the other one way. I know one of you has to relate to me on this!)
6-Pack Clear Pouches
Okay – these are SO simple, but I LOVE THEM! They are sturdy little clear pouches that I can organize anything in — all my charging cords, pens, my hard drives so they stay nice and dry and protected — I use these all the time for everything. And at about $2 a pop, it’s an easy purchase! Now instead of all the things floating around in my tote, they stay in these little pouches and because they are clear, I can easily find what I am looking for!
6-Piece Travel Cube Set
PACKING CUBES!! Why did it take me so long to hop on this train?! These are amazing. If you don’t own packing cubes you need them. It will change your travel. I mean, just look at how nice and organized that suitcase is! Just looking at messy things stresses me out, so when I open my suitcase and everything is neat and has stayed in place, it just makes me feel better about living out of a suitcase for a while. I got these beige ones because I’m just a “neutral kind of person”, but they also have other colors like pinks, blues, black, etc.
Felt Insert Tote Organizer
THIS! I use this every. single. day. I have a congac leather Everlane Day Tote that I carry to and from my office and this fits right down in the bottom of it and makes finding things so much easier! There’s a pocket for everything, that row in the middle is removable, and those little squares will keep a water bottle / drink from tipping over. It comes in multiple sizes and colors, so you can find one that fits into a bag you already own! I, again, bought the beige one (because, neutral), AND because if I have this on a plane with me and it’s dark, the lighter makes it easier to see what is inside. Do yourself a favor and just get one!
3-PIECE LEATHER CORD ORGANIZERS
These are pretty self-explanatory, but I wrap up my headphones and phone and Apple watch cords with them. They are leather, so they won’t tear or fall apart quickly.
Remington Pro ½-1” Curling Wand
And, this isn’t quite “travel organization” related, but as promised on my Instagram post: The tools I use to curl my hair! (I always take one of these two with me, so it kind of fits the travel theme!) First up: This Remington 1- 1/2 inch curling wand. My hair is naturally kind of curly, so this creates curls that blend in with my natural hair when I wear it that way. It also looks great when I use it all-over and the curl holds in my hair for a couple of days. Because I get the question so much of how I curl my hair, there is actually a highlight on my Instagram called “FAQ: Hair”. Just go to my profile and scroll all the way to the right — you’ll see a little tutorial on me using this exact wand!
Chi 1 Inch Curling Iron
And THIS one is what I used to curl my hair in the photo at the top of this post. It’s a a Chi 1 Inch curling iron. Disclaimer: I couldn’t find a link to purchase it for you guys… except for Walmart, but I’m not a Walmart fan… and it’s also sold out, so that wouldn’t be helpful. AND I got mine at TJ Maxx… which, I know – not helpful! BUT now you know and maybe you can find it on your own, or something similar!
Reading this back makes me seem like I am so Type-A / OCD… and I’m really not, I promise! I just like being clean and organized. I have better things to be doing than rummaging around through my suitcase / bags over and over, so keeping things neat and simple just makes life – and travel – a little less chaotic. 🙂
